Getting around SuperMDT

SuperMDT’s navigation isn’t written in advance: it is generated from your configuration. You only see the modules enabled in your current service that your rank lets you view.

Home

The organization home shows the date, the time of day and the time (in the organization’s time zone), greets you by your first name and recalls your rank, service and callsign. Without a rank in the current service, an administrator reads “Administrator, not assigned”; a member assigned to no service reads “You aren’t assigned to any service yet.”.

Its cards depend on your current service’s modules:

• My shift: your duty status, with the stopwatch, the week’s total and the button to go on or off duty. Without the module, the card says duty is not enabled in this service;
• Getting started (administrators): the guided setup, until it is finished;
• Your tools: your current service’s modules. Your Pinned tools come first, as large tiles, and as shortcuts under the greeting; All tools follow below;
• My week: your duty hours this week, day by day, with a link to My hours (if you hold a rank in the service and it has duty);
• Recent calls: the first five calls in the queue, live, with a link to dispatch (Calls module, and permission to see calls or dispatch);
• Announcements: the latest announcements from your service and the organization;
• My pay: your latest payslip in this service;
• Configure (administrators): a grid of shortcuts to every Settings page, at the bottom of the column (Live map only with the game integration).

Pinning your tools

Hover a tile (on a phone, the button is always shown) and click the Pin … pin: the tool moves to Pinned. Click again (Unpin …) to remove it. You pin up to 8 tools (the “3 of 8” counter reminds you; beyond that, a message asks you to unpin one first). Your choice is personal, kept on your account for this organization (you find it on another device), and only shows tools you can open in the current service.

The top bar

• Left: the organization’s logo and name (back to home) and the service switcher, which shows your rank (or “Not assigned”).
• Center: the pill with Home and the module groups (Operations, Records, Staff, Department). Only groups holding at least one visible module appear (the Department group also appears for whoever can open Settings). An indicator slides under the group of the page you are on.
• Right: the panic button (while you are on duty in a service that uses it), the duty pill, the notification bell, search (Ctrl K, or ⌘ K on a Mac) and your photo, which opens the My account menu.

The bar never overflows. When space runs short (narrow window, tablet, in-game tablet), it compacts step by step: the organization name gives way to its logo alone first (as soon as the screen is under 1,560 px wide, so on most laptops; the name stays in the tooltip), then the keyboard shortcut and your rank go, then the pill’s groups turn into icons (the current group keeps its name the longest), then the duty stopwatch shrinks to its dot (the time stays in the tooltip).

Switching service

If you belong to several services, click the switcher: the Switch service menu lists your services, each with your rank (or “Not assigned”) and your callsign. Pick one: the navigation, home and modules on offer follow. The chosen service is remembered on this device. With a single service, the switcher is just a label.

With the game integration, switching to a service where you have a character selects it; if you have several, SuperMDT asks which one (see below).

The My account menu

Your photo, top right, opens the My account menu:

• your name (your active character’s, otherwise your account’s), your role (Owner, Administrator or Member) and the organization;
• My profile: your photo, phone, bank account and motto, and your notifications (see My profile);
• Assign me (administrators): assign yourself to a service; the button reads Change my assignment once you are assigned in the current service (see My profile);
• your character and Switch character or Link my game account, with the game integration;
• My latest pay, if the current service has the Payroll module and you hold a rank in it;
• Theme (Dark or Light) and Language (Français or English): your choice is kept on your account;
• My organizations: switch to another organization you are a member of (a check marks the one you are in);
• Back office, for the SuperMDT team only (see Back office);
• Sign out.

The My account menu

Group panels

Click a group in the pill: a panel opens with its modules, their description and their count. The Department group also holds the Settings entry for whoever can open it. Hover a tile and click the pin (Pin …) to keep it at hand.

The right column gathers your Pinned and Recent modules (the ones you opened last), four of each at most. Both lists are kept on this device, separately from the home page’s pinned tools.

The footer shows the search shortcut (to search everything), the “Menu generated from the … configuration” line for the current service and, for administrators, the Manage modules link (to Settings › Services). Escape or a click outside closes the panel. Opened from the keyboard, the panel moves focus to its first module.

⌘K search

Ctrl K (⌘ K on a Mac), or the magnifier button, opens the search palette from anywhere; the same shortcut closes it. Type a few letters, accents and capitals don’t matter:

• Citizens, Players, Vehicles, Weapons, Reports, Cases: from two characters on, the records you can view, listed first (see Global search);
• Modules: Home and your current service’s modules;
• Settings: go to a settings page (organization administrators only);
• Services: switch to another service (if you have several);
• Actions: switch to the light or dark theme, display the interface in another language.

↑ ↓ pick, Enter opens, Escape (or the Esc button, or a click outside) closes. Results are limited to your services. Nothing matches? The palette says so (“No results for …”) and suggests trying the name of a module, a service or a settings page.

The search palette

Settings

Settings gathers the organization’s configuration. Its entry shows in the Department group of the pill (and in the More sheet on a phone):

• for the organization’s administrators (owner included), who see everything;
• for ranks holding at least one permission of the Delegated administration module: they only see the sections delegated to them. See Delegated administration.

Administrators also open it from the home page’s Configure grid and the Settings group of the Ctrl K search.

The sections

On a computer, the sections are listed on the left; on a phone, they form a scrolling strip of tabs, the active tab staying in view. In order:

The Settings and services page links to each section’s documentation.

A delegated rank opening Settings lands straight on the first section it is allowed. With no section allowed, the page shows Restricted with Back to home. At the top of Settings, a Getting started banner shows the progress of the guided setup and lets you resume it, or review it once finished.

Finding a setting

The Search settings field, at the top of the section list, searches the pages and cards you can open: a game setting only shows with the game integration, a module’s setting only if a service has that module.

1. Press / from any Settings page (or click the field).
2. Type a word: a page name, a card title or a synonym (“time zone”, “key”, “panic”…).
3. Pick a Page › Card result with ↑ ↓ then Enter: the page opens and scrolls to the card, which flashes briefly.

The bell

The bell shows the number of unread notifications (“99+” beyond that): sanctions, summons, leave to approve, announcements, calls for your unit… A click opens the panel; a click on a notification takes you to what it’s about. See Notifications.

Picking your character

When the game integration is on and your game account is linked, your character sets your name, service and callsign in the MDT:

• at sign-in, if a single character has the job of one of your services, it’s picked automatically; if there are several, the Which character? screen asks which one you play;
• with no character, Continue without a character opens the MDT under your account name;
• Switch character, in the My account menu, reopens this choice at any time (while no game account is linked, the same row offers Link my game account);
• switching to a service where you have several characters also asks which one.

In the in-game tablet, the character is always the one you are playing (“Played in game”).

Dropdown lists

In forms, a dropdown list also works from the keyboard: the arrow keys move through the choices, Enter or Space picks one, Escape closes it, and typing a letter jumps to the first choice that starts with it. On a phone, the list opens as a sheet from the bottom of the screen.

On a phone

On a narrow screen (under 768 px), the top bar becomes compact: the organization’s logo, the organization name above the service switcher, the panic button (if your service uses it), the round duty button, the bell and search. A navigation bar appears at the bottom: Home, three modules and More.

The three modules are the ones you pinned in the group panels on this device, then, failing that, your service’s first modules. They carry short labels such as “Duty”, “Records” or “Map”.

More opens the All modules sheet:

• all your modules, by group, with their count, and the Settings entry if you can open it;
• the Search a module… field;
• at the top, your My profile and preferences row, which opens the content of the My account menu (Back returns to the modules).

Drag the handle down, tap outside or press Escape to close it.

Note

A module is missing? It may not be enabled in this service, or your rank lacks its read permission (for instance Warrants › See warrants). Opened by its address, it then shows Access unavailable. On a page you can see, an action you’re not allowed stays visible but locked, with a padlock and the help “Restricted: …”. See Permissions.
