Units and statuses
Forming a patrol, changing its status, and defining the service’s unit statuses.
A unit is a patrol: a callsign (for example ADAM 12), a crew of on-duty members, a
vehicle if you like, and a status (available, en route, on scene…). Dispatch assigns
units to calls.
The Units module (Operations group) is enabled per service. It has two tabs: Units and Statuses.
ops-unitsMy unit
Section titled “My unit”The My unit card, at the top of the module, shows your unit: callsign, status, Crew, Vehicle and current call (On call). Its status buttons change the whole unit’s status in one click.
- Off duty: go on duty first, otherwise you can neither form nor join a unit.
- You are not in a unit: Form a unit (Units › Form a unit permission), or Join one from the list. Joining needs no permission: being on duty in this service and in no other unit is enough (six members at most per unit). The arrival is recorded in the audit log.
- Leave unit: hold the button down. The last person to leave disbands the unit.
If you patrol in another service than the one shown, the card says so (“Your unit patrols in …”).
Status detail
Section titled “Status detail”Below the status buttons, Status detail adds a short free text to your unit’s status:
the reason for a 10-7, “meal”, “at the station”… (80 characters at most). Save stores
it, the cross clears it.
- It shows everywhere the status appears: unit list, dispatch, call page, live map and in-game quick dispatch.
- It is cleared at the next status change: it describes that status, and a detail left over from an older status would mislead.
- If your unit is assigned to a call, the call log records the change (“Detail: meal → at the station”).
- Same rights as the status: the unit’s members, or Units › Change another unit’s status from another unit’s sheet.
ops-unit-status-noteForming a unit
Section titled “Forming a unit”- Click Form a unit.
- Give a Callsign (up to 20 characters).
- Add the Crew: on-duty members without a unit, six at most (you included).
- Optional: the vehicle, as free text (Vehicle (free text)) or picked from the registry (Registered vehicle).
- Pick the Starting status, then Form unit.
The service’s units show live in Service units, a hundred at most at a time. Going off duty removes the member from their unit.
Unit statuses
Section titled “Unit statuses”Each service has its own status list, in the module’s Statuses tab or in Settings › Operations. Setting it up needs Units › Set the status list; without it, the tab is read-only, and Add a status stays visible but locked, with the help “Restricted: Units › Set the status list”. A status has:
- a Label (for example “Available”), a Code (for example
10-8), or both; it then shows as “10-8 · Available”; - a Color;
- a Category, which tells the MDT what the status means.
ops-unit-statuses| Category | What the MDT does with it |
|---|---|
| Available | the unit is free and can be assigned; new units often start with it |
| En route | the unit is heading to a call |
| On scene | the assigned call becomes “In progress” |
| Busy | the unit is busy, without being on a call |
| Unavailable | break, end of patrol… |
| Emergency | the unit is in distress; the panic button switches the officer’s unit to it |
Click a status to edit it. Reorder statuses by dragging them by their handle, or with each row’s Move up and Move down arrows: the order is the order of the My unit buttons. Always keep at least one Available status. To delete a status, open it and hold Delete: it moves to Deleted statuses, where Restore brings it back; units showing it keep it. Thirty statuses at most per service.
Managing other units
Section titled “Managing other units”With Units › Manage one’s own unit, you set up your unit: callsign, vehicle, partners, disbanding. With Units › Manage all units, the settings button of a unit in the list (its name: “Manage ADAM 12”) opens its panel: change the callsign, the vehicle, Add to crew or remove a member, and Disband (hold: the crew is released and the unit leaves its call).
Changing the status of a unit you are not in needs Units › Change another unit’s status. Members of a unit always change their own unit’s status, with no specific permission.
Assigning a unit to a sector
Section titled “Assigning a unit to a sector”If the service has patrol sectors, the unit’s management sheet offers the Assigned sector list: the sector the unit patrols, or None. Same rights as for the callsign and the vehicle: a member of the unit with Units › Manage one’s own unit, or Units › Manage all units.
In dispatch, the unit then shows “Assigned:” followed by its sector, and “In:” followed by the sector it is in, from the live map. Deleting a sector removes the assignment of the units that were assigned to it.
Permissions
Section titled “Permissions”| Permission | What it allows | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Units › See units | see the service’s patrols and their statuses | every rank |
| Units › Form a unit | create a patrol you are part of (joining a unit only requires being on duty) | members and up |
| Units › Manage one’s own unit | callsign, vehicle, assigned sector, partners and disbanding your unit | members and up |
| Units › Manage all units | form, edit (assigned sector included), reshuffle or disband any unit | supervisors and up |
| Units › Change another unit’s status | set a unit you are not in to “available”, “busy”… | supervisors and up |
| Units › Set the status list | create, rename, reorder or archive unit statuses | command |
Any member of a unit can change its status. Without the permission, a button stays visible but locked, with a padlock and the help “Restricted: …”; see Permissions.
