Accounts and charactersGame

Link your game account to your SuperMDT account (Discord or /mdtlink code), choose your character and switch, and manage players as an administrator.

On this page03
  1. Link your game account
  2. Choose your character
  3. For administrators: players

To open the tablet and go on duty in game, an officer must have linked their game account to their SuperMDT account. Then they sign in to the MDT as one of their characters: that character sets their roleplay name, service and callsign.

The account model (member, player, characters) is explained in Game integration.

A member can have up to 5 linked game accounts. There are three ways to link one; each player’s page shows which one was used (Linked through Discord, Linked with a code (/mdtlink), Linked by hand).

You sign in to SuperMDT with Discord. If Discord is running on your PC while you play, FiveM passes your Discord ID to the server: the bridge recognizes the same account and links it on its own, with nothing to type.

It doesn’t work if Discord is closed while you play, or if you use another Discord account in game. In that case, use a code.

Owner and administrators: Discord linking doesn’t happen on its own for them. A player’s Discord ID is declared by the game server, so by anyone who holds the bridge key. Link with a code, or, if you trust this server, click Allow Discord linking once in Link my game account (on the website, not from the tablet). Remove Discord linking withdraws it; the change is written to the audit log.

  1. On the website, open your account menu (your avatar, top right), then Link my game account.
  2. Click Show a code. A 6-character code appears, for example K7F-29Q, with the command to type.
  3. In game, type in the chat: /mdtlink K7F-29Q.
  4. An in-game message confirms the link, and the website page updates on its own.
The link code, in the account menu

The code lasts 10 minutes and works only once; New code shows another one and replaces the old one, Cancel the code deletes it, Copy the command copies the line to type. You can create at most 10 codes per hour (“Too many codes created in an hour”). The code avoids characters that are easy to confuse (0 and O, 1, I and L, 5 and S, 8 and B, Z); in game, lowercase, spaces and the dash are accepted (/mdtlink k7f29q works too).

The command may have another name on your server (supermdt_link_command convar, mdtlink by default); empty, linking with a code is turned off in game. Type the command without a code to see how to use it.

No command to type: open the SuperMDT menu in game (F9 by default; no default key on ESX). As long as your account isn’t linked, it offers Link my account: type the code shown on the website in the Code, e.g. K7F-29Q field, then Link. It takes exactly the same path as /mdtlink (same checks, same messages). The entry only shows up when linking with a code is active on the server.

A link made with a code is never replaced by the Discord link. A game account already linked to another member is refused: only an administrator can unlink it.

An administrator (or a rank with Delegated administration › Set up the game) opens the player’s page (Settings › Game › Players), then Link a member. They can also Change or Unlink (hold button). A member can’t unlink a game account themselves.

Message Cause What to do
“your game account is now linked to …” Link succeeded —
“unknown, expired or already used code” Code older than 10 minutes, already used, replaced, or from another organization Show a new code on the website.
“this game account is already linked to another member” The license is linked to another account An administrator unlinks the player, then a new code.
“this code is not valid” Incomplete code, or an extra character Copy the 6 characters shown again.
“your game account was already linked to …” This game account was already linked to this member Nothing: the link exists.
“too many failed attempts. Try again in … min” 5 failed attempts in 10 minutes for this player (60 for the whole organization) Wait until the window ends.
“one moment, a link is already in progress” Two attempts too close together (one every 3 seconds) Wait for the answer.
“linking is unavailable right now” Game integration turned off, or bridge not connected yet Check Settings › Game, try again later.
“linking failed, try again in a moment” SuperMDT unreachable Try again.
“your MDT account already has the maximum number of linked game accounts” 5 accounts already linked An administrator unlinks one.
“Your account is not linked to any MDT member” (tablet, duty) Not linked yet Link the account, through Discord or with a code.

A character shows up for you when, in game, it has the job of one of your services (an administrator sees all their characters linked to a service).

  • One character: it’s picked automatically, with no screen.
  • Several: when you sign in to the website, the Which character? window lists them (name, service, rank). Click the one you play.
  • None: the window says so; Continue without a character signs you in under your account name.

The choice lasts for your sign-in session: next time you sign in, SuperMDT asks again if you have several characters.

  • Your displayed name everywhere in the MDT becomes the character’s roleplay name (and follows the game if the character changes name).
  • Your current service becomes the one of the character’s job.
  • Your callsign is the one of your assignment in that service.

The character choice is written to the audit log.

In your account menu, the Character row shows the active character, its service and rank. Switch character reopens the choice window. Switching service can also ask you to pick among your characters in that service.

In the in-game tablet, there’s no choice: it’s the character you are playing, shown as Played in game. Switching character in game reloads the tablet.

Settings › Game › Players lists the game accounts seen by the bridge (or entered by hand), 25 at a time with Show more: name, online or not, linked member. Search covers the name, license, Discord and FiveM ID.

A player’s page shows their identifiers (Rockstar license, Discord, FiveM), connection, linked member and Characters (job, framework grade, expected and current MDT grade; a mismatch is flagged). Clicking a character opens its citizen record.

Add a player creates a player by hand (at least one identifier), for example to set up a link before their first connection.

On the record of a citizen from the game, the Player tab shows its game account and its other characters.

Permission What it allows Default

Linking your own account and choosing your character need no permission: any member can.

These permissions only show in the matrix when the game integration is on. They are set in Ranks and permissions; administrators always have them. The full catalogue is in Permissions.
