In-game tabletGame
Open SuperMDT in game: the tablet (F6), what it keeps between openings, the on-duty requirement, in-game photos, the quick dispatch (F7), the SuperMDT menu (F9), the HUD layout and the panic button.
The tablet opens SuperMDT in game, already signed in to the officer’s account, with no browser or password. It’s the same MDT as on the website, in a tablet layout. Two options come with it: in-game photos and the quick dispatch.
Open and close
Section titled “Open and close”- F6 key (F4 on ESX, see Keys on ESX) or
/mdtcommand: opens the tablet; the same key closes it. - Esc, or the bar at the bottom of the device, also close it.
- It closes on its own if your character dies or if you open the pause menu.
While in use, your character holds a tablet (animation and prop); you can walk. In a vehicle, there’s no animation.
Change the key
Section titled “Change the key”Each player picks their key: Settings › Key Bindings › FiveM › “Open or close the SuperMDT tablet”. Their choice wins over the server’s.
Server side, the default key and the command name are set in config_shared.lua
(Config.Tablet.key, Config.Tablet.command). FiveM remembers the key per command:
changing the default key doesn’t change it for players who already saved theirs.
Keys on ESX
Section titled “Keys on ESX”The default keys on this page (tablet F6, quick dispatch F7, menu F9, panic F10) are those of QBCore and Qbox. On ESX (es_extended detected on the player’s machine), they are already taken by the base scripts: F6 (esx_policejob, esx_ambulancejob, esx_taxijob, esx_mechanicjob), F7 (esx_billing), F9 and F10 (esx_adminmenu), as well as F1 (sd-phone), F2 (inventory), F3 (animations), F5 (esx_property), F11 (pma-voice). The bridge applies other defaults there:
| Action | Default key on ESX | Without a key |
|---|---|---|
| Tablet | F4 (free, in GTA V too; F8 is the FiveM console) | /mdt |
| Quick dispatch | none | /dispatchrapide |
| SuperMDT menu | none | — |
| Panic button | none | /panique |
Each player can pick their own in Settings › Key Bindings › FiveM. Server side:
Config.FrameworkKeys.esx in config_shared.lua ('': no key).
Require an item (optional)
Section titled “Require an item (optional)”The server can require an inventory item to open the tablet (Config.Tablet.item and
requireItem = true in config_shared.lua). The item becomes usable on its own with ESX,
QBCore and Qbox; with ox_inventory, declare it in ox_inventory/data/items.lua with
server = { export = 'supermdt-bridge.useTablet' }. Another resource can also open the
tablet with exports['supermdt-bridge']:openTablet(source).
Who can open it
Section titled “Who can open it”The tablet opens if:
- the player’s game account is linked to a member;
- the character being played has a job linked to a service this member is assigned to;
- the character is on duty in that service (when the service has the duty module).
Otherwise, the player gets an in-game message (“the tablet is only available with a public service job”, “Your account is not linked to any MDT member…”), or the tablet opens on the On duty required screen.
The tablet session is the one of the character being played: its roleplay name, its service. The website itself requires neither an in-game character nor being on duty.
A restricted session
Section titled “A restricted session”The session opened by the tablet is narrower than the website’s:
- it only works for the game server’s organization: if your account belongs to other organizations, the tablet doesn’t see them;
- it lasts 12 hours, extended while the tablet stays open; after that, the tablet asks the game to sign in again on its own;
- it allows no administration, not even for the owner: bridge keys and game settings, services, roles and ownership, members and invitations, configuration, Discord, audit log, archives. Do these on the website; the tablet shows “Not from the in-game tablet”.
Each opening is written to the audit log (opened the in-game tablet with the player).
The “On duty required” screen
Section titled “The “On duty required” screen”Off duty, the tablet shows On duty required: “You need to be on duty to use the tablet”. Depending on the service’s Going on duty from the MDT setting (Settings › Services, service sheet):
- Allowed or Only while in game: the Go on duty button puts your character on duty in the framework; the MDT replaces the screen on its own a few seconds later.
- Game only: no button; the screen says you go on duty in game (locker room, server command or job).
If duty ends while the tablet is loaded, it goes back to this screen.
What the tablet keeps
Section titled “What the tablet keeps”Closing the tablet only hides it: the page stays loaded. When you open it again, you find the same screen, the open window and your current input, instantly.
It only reloads:
- on first opening, and after Try again;
- when your MDT session has expired;
- after a character change, the end of duty or a service change;
- when the bridge key switches to another organization;
- when the resource restarts.
Even after a reload, creation windows (citizen, vehicle, weapon, call, warrant, BOLO, visit, absence, summons, case, announcement) keep their fields: reopening the same window brings the input back, with the Draft restored message.
If SuperMDT doesn’t answer within 15 seconds, the tablet shows “The tablet is not responding” and a Try again button.
Add a photo from the tablet
Section titled “Add a photo from the tablet”FiveM’s built-in browser doesn’t open a file picker. In the tablet, the Add a photo button of photo fields is therefore replaced by:
- Take an in-game photo, if the option is on (see below);
- Paste an image with Ctrl+V: an image copied to the clipboard (Windows screenshot, image copied elsewhere) is added to the field. It always works, with or without in-game photos.
Nothing changes on the website. Formats and limits are those of Photos (PNG, JPEG or WebP, 5 MB at most).
In-game photos
Section titled “In-game photos”Every photo field in the tablet (citizen, vehicle and weapon photos, operation photos, form Photo and Gallery fields) offers Take an in-game photo.
- Click Take an in-game photo. The tablet makes way for a full-screen viewfinder: frame, rule-of-thirds grid, zoom factor.
- Frame your shot. Your character stops moving; the mouse aims the camera, the wheel zooms (up to about ×5), V switches between the shoulder view and the eye view.
- Left click or Enter: shoot. Right click, Esc or Backspace: cancel.
- The tablet comes back with the preview to crop: move and resize the area with the mouse or the arrow keys. Formats: free, 3:4 (ID photo, default for a citizen), 4:3, 16:9, square.
- Use photo adds it to the field. Retake goes back to the viewfinder.
The game HUD and the viewfinder disappear just before the capture: they are never in the image. A HUD from another resource (NUI) isn’t hidden automatically. If the upload fails, you go back to cropping without losing the image.
The image goes straight from the tablet to SuperMDT, without going through the game server. It’s stored in your organization’s photos, in your name, and logged.
Turn on in-game photos
Section titled “Turn on in-game photos”| Where | What |
|---|---|
| Game server | screencapture (recommended) or screenshot-basic, started before the bridge |
| SuperMDT | Settings › Game › In game › In-game photos (on by default) |
| Bridge | Config.Photos.enabled in config_shared.lua (on by default) |
Without a started capture resource, the button doesn’t show. A change in SuperMDT reaches the game within a few seconds.
Quick dispatch
Section titled “Quick dispatch”The quick dispatch is a small, discreet panel in a corner of the game screen. It shows your service’s units on duty: callsign, members (short roleplay name) and status, your unit first, 8 units at most then “+N”. It follows the dispatch live, takes neither the mouse nor the keyboard, and hides while the tablet is open.
It only exists on duty, in a job linked to a service: off duty, nothing is loaded.
It doesn’t show the call list. When a unit is assigned to a call, a small circled number follows its callsign: “#9” means it is on call #9.
game-quick-dispatch-callShow or hide it
Section titled “Show or hide it”- F7 key (none by default on ESX; changeable in Settings › Key Bindings › FiveM; your key shows in the panel header);
- the Quick dispatch switch in the tablet’s Dispatch tab;
- the
/dispatchrapidecommand.
Your choice is saved on your PC.
Move it
Section titled “Move it”The panel is placed in the HUD layout, with the other SuperMDT elements:
the Move button next to the switch in the Dispatch tab (the tablet closes),
/dispatchrapide position, /mdthud or the SuperMDT menu. The Small or Medium size
is picked there too.
Status keys (optional)
Section titled “Status keys (optional)”The server can offer quick status keys (statusKeys in config_shared.lua, for example
numpad keys): the first key sets the service’s first status, and so on, in the order of
Settings › Operations. Each player can change them in the FiveM key bindings.
Turn on the quick dispatch
Section titled “Turn on the quick dispatch”Settings › Game › In game › Quick dispatch (on by default), and
Config.QuickDispatch.enabled on the bridge side. Without the option, the switch doesn’t
show in the Dispatch tab.
Call waypoints
Section titled “Call waypoints”When your unit is assigned to a call that has a point, the call’s marker and route show in your in-game GPS, without doing anything (see Call waypoints). To head to a call without assigning yourself, open its page in the tablet and click Set waypoint (also in dispatch and in a call’s menu on the map): the tablet sets the point right away, for you only. “Waypoint of call #12 set in your in-game GPS.” only shows if the game really created the marker; otherwise: “The waypoint could not be set in game.” (see Troubleshooting the waypoint). See Calls.
The SuperMDT menu
Section titled “The SuperMDT menu”One key for everything you can do in game: F9 by default (none on ESX; change it in Settings › Key
Bindings › FiveM, “SuperMDT menu”; the server can change it or remove the menu with
Config.Menu).
game-menuThe menu only shows what you can do right now:
| Entry | When it shows |
|---|---|
| Open the tablet | The tablet is enabled on the server (and your account is not known as unlinked) |
| Show / Hide quick dispatch | On duty, quick dispatch enabled by the organization |
| Turn the plate reader on / off | On duty in a service that has the built-in reader |
| Lock / Unlock the front camera, … rear | Plate reader on |
| Open the last alert | A flagged plate with a record in the last 10 minutes |
| Remove the waypoint (call #12) | A SuperMDT GPS waypoint is shown on your map |
| HUD layout | The server has at least one SuperMDT HUD element |
| Panic button | On duty, account linked, panic button offered |
| Link my account | Game account not linked to the MDT yet |
- Like a classic GTA menu: up and down arrows, then Enter; or the entry’s number directly (1 to 9); Esc or Backspace closes. No cursor: the mouse keeps aiming the camera. The menu closes after each action.
- You keep control of your character: while the menu is open you keep driving or walking; only shooting and keys that would clash (arrows, numbers, Enter…) are paused.
- Panic button: to avoid accidental presses, you must hold it (Enter, Space or its number) for a little over a second; releasing cancels.
- Link my account: on the website, Link my game account shows a code; type it in the
menu then Link. It is the same check as
/mdtlink CODE. - Remove the waypoint: the SuperMDT GPS waypoint and its route disappear right away, for you only. Mostly useful for a point placed with Set waypoint, without being assigned. It doesn’t come back for the same choice (as when you arrive on scene). If the point came from an assignment, your unit stays assigned to the call: only the point goes away.
Direct keys stay: tablet F6, quick dispatch F7, panic F10 (on ESX: tablet F4, the others up to you, see Keys on ESX). The other actions (plate reader, camera locks, HUD layout, remove the GPS waypoint) have no default key: the menu, or a key you choose in the FiveM bindings. Game messages always show your key; if you have none, they point to the SuperMDT menu.
The Keys tab
Section titled “The Keys tab”In the menu, the right arrow switches to the Keys tab (the left arrow goes back to the actions). It lists every SuperMDT action that can have a key (tablet, quick dispatch, menu, panic button, plate reader, front and rear locks, open the flagged record, HUD layout, remove the GPS waypoint, status keys) with the key you actually bound to it, or None.
game-menu-keysKeys belong to you: FiveM does not let a script change them. Enter on Change my keys closes the menu and opens the FiveM key bindings page of the pause menu directly. When you leave the pause menu, the SuperMDT menu reopens on the Keys tab, with your new keys. If the page does not open, the path is shown: Esc › Settings › Key Bindings › FiveM.
The HUD layout
Section titled “The HUD layout”All SuperMDT elements on screen are placed at once: the plate reader and the quick dispatch.
- Open the layout: SuperMDT menu › HUD layout, the
/mdthudcommand (Config.Menu.layoutCommand),/dispatchrapide positionor the Move button of the Dispatch tab. You can also bind a key (“SuperMDT HUD layout”, none by default). - Each element shows up, with an example if it is empty or hidden, with a dashed outline. Drag it with the mouse; it snaps to the edges and never leaves the screen. With the keyboard: Tab switches element, arrows move it (Shift: faster).
- Pick the quick dispatch size: Small or Medium. Default restores the places of the server configuration.
- Enter or Done saves; Esc or Cancel restores the previous places.
game-hud-layoutPlaces are kept on your PC, for you only, and survive resolution changes. Places chosen with the old “Move” mode are carried over.
The panic button
Section titled “The panic button”On duty, the tablet’s top bar carries the Panic button (siren icon), next to the duty pill, just like the MDT: hold it for about 1.2 seconds to send a distress alert, with no confirmation window. The alert leaves with the “tablet” origin; dispatch and the on-duty officers of your service get the banner, the alarm and the notification. Everything is described in Panic button.
With the tablet closed, the /panique command or the key you picked do the same and send
your character’s position (see
Duty and positions).
When a colleague of your service triggers the panic button, their alert shows at the
top of the quick dispatch (blinking red card, distance and arrow towards them), even if
you hid the panel: only the alert shows then. You also get an on-screen notification, a
sound (/panique sound to mute it) and a point on the game map with the GPS route.
Everything goes away as soon as the alert is acknowledged or closed (see
Duty and positions).
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| What you see | Cause | What to do |
